Position Summary

The HR Specialist (Retirements) will assist the Civilian HR Staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Review retirement packages for voluntary and disability retirement cases
• Conduct advisory services for voluntary and disability retirement cases
• Run retirement estimates and conduct advisory services on the content of the estimates

   

  Required Qualifications

• Minimum of six (6) years of experience in performing the above support services
• Possess expert knowledge of federal retirement benefits and eligibility and the rules and regulations pertaining to them.
• Possess skill in independently reviewing and advising on federal retirement benefits and eligibility
• Possess skill coding and processing retirement personnel actions IAW OPM’s Guide to Processing Personnel Actions

   

  Additional Qualifications

• CSRS, CSRS Offset, FERS, FERS-RAE, and FERS-FRAE
• Voluntary, disability, early, discontinued-service, and deferred retirement, as applicable
• Retirement eligibility and annuity estimates
• Creditable civilian and military service
• Military service deposits and civilian deposits or redeposits
• Survivor benefit elections
• FEHB and FEGLI continuation
• Unused sick-leave credit
• SCD and retirement-coverage validation
• Disability retirement documentation and OPM submission requirements
• Counseling employees on retirement estimates and elections
• Coding and processing retirement-related personnel actions
• Use of Government retirement-calculation tools and HR systems
• Quality review of estimates and retirement packages

Employment Terms

Job Type: Full-time, Contract · Work Location: Hybrid

Assuming a hybrid performance posture consisting of up to two (2) days of telework per week, with a minimum of three (3) days per week performed onsite at USCG Headquarters
